Dr Hong graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1986 and obtained his post-graduate fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, United Kingdom in 1992.  He pursued further training in the subspecialty of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and did a year of fellowship in London in 1996. Upon completion, he became a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 1998. His practice constitutes mainly cosmetic surgery including blepharoplasties, rhinoplasty, chin augmentation, pinback of prominent ears and facelifts. He does body contouring with liposuction, lipectomy, abdominoplasty and breast surgery which includes augmentation, reduction, mastopexy and nipple surgery.

His sub-specialty interest includes breast reconstruction after mastectomy using implants or flaps, ear reconstruction for congenital ear deformities(microtia) using costal cartilage in 2 stages, facial reanimation for facial palsy using microsurgical transfer of muscle flaps, hand surgery and reconstructive microsurgery.
